High School Portfolios – Beginning with this year’s incoming high school freshmen, students are required to earn 25.5 credits prior to graduating with one of those credits earned by having a portfolio and doing a “successful” oral portfolio/exhibition presentation on it prior to graduating. All students at the high school are expected to participate in a piece of the portfolio process this year and can earn one-quarter credit toward graduation if they do. Grades on the report card would be either “P” for pass or “F” for failure.

Middle School retention – Criteria now covers grades sixth through eight rather than just the latter group. Students must pass all required subjects, which means that the final average in each subject is 65 or above. Students in these grades who fail one subject may appeal to the Placement Appeal Committee. Students who fail two subjects “will be retained unless they successfully complete summer school.” In order for students to be eligible for summer school, their yearly average in the subject area must be at least 50. Students who fail more than two subjects are automatically detained.

Elementary School arrival – Students should not arrive before 8:40 a.m. unless prior arrangements have been made with individual teachers.
