PARIS – A fund-raising barbecue will be held from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall, Lower Main Street, South Paris. The menu will offer hot dogs for $1, hamburgers $1.50, cheeseburgers $1.75, macaroni and potato salad for 75 cents, and a can of soda for $1. Proceeds will benefit the new Ruby’s Gold Mine nonprofit Second Time Around Shop at the Transfer Station. The shop will offer items in good condition to residents who are in need of them. The shop will be operated by volunteers. Proceeds will help with the building construction, and for light and heating costs when in place.

Church service hours changing

PARIS – The First Congregational Church services and Sunday school will begin holding service hours at 10 a.m. from September through June. Hours will return to 9 a.m. July and August of 2004. The church is handicap accessible and located at 17 East Main St., South Paris.

Church to hold bean supper

PARIS – The Ladies Circle of the First Congregational Church will sponsor a baked bean supper from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, at the church at 17 East Main St., South Paris. The menu will include casseroles, salads, hot dogs, brown bread, homemade rolls and homemade pies. Cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children under 12.
