1924 – 2003

RUMFORD – Norman Joseph Latendresse, 79, a resident of Franklin Street, died peacefully Sunday evening, Aug. 24, at the Rumford Community Hospital, following a long illness.

Born at La Patrie, Quebec, Canada, April 2, 1924, the son of Albe and Eva LeBlond Latendresse, he received his education in the schools of La Patrie, Canada.

Mr. Latendresse owned and operated his own lumber business, Latendresse Lumber Co. of Rumford for most of his life, retiring in 1994.

He was a communicant of St. Athanasius St. John Parish and a member of the Eagle’s Club of Rumford. He enjoyed the interest of hunting, fishing, taking trips to Canada and taking local drives to visit his friends and family members.

Survivors include three sisters, Reinette L. Coulombe of Rumford, Jeannine Poulin of Longueil, Quebec, Canada and Cecile L. Hebert of Rumford; two brothers, Hubert Latendresse and his wife, Solange and Ivon Latendresse and his wife, Jeannine, all of Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada; one brother-in-law, Ben Hamilton of Oxford, Mass.; three sisters-in-law, Laurette Latendresse of Augusta, Claire Latendresse of Granby, Quebec and Therese Latendresse of Waterloo, Quebec; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by four brothers, Gaston, Camille, Robert and Berthold Latendresse; and two sisters, Lucette Goguen and Marielle Hamilton.
