1930 – 2003

EAST MILLINOCKET – Nancy L. (Hoag) Turmel, 73, beloved wife of 55 years to Ulric Turmel, passed away Aug. 27, after a long illness. She died at her home surrounded by the comfort and care of her family.

She was born in Sandusky, Ohio, May 21, 1930, the daughter of Claude and Marguerite Hoag. She was a graduate of Livermore Falls High School, Class of 1948. She and Ulric lived in Livermore Falls until 1954, when they moved to East Millinocket.

She was employed as Clerk of the Maine District Court in Millinocket from 1976 to 1990. Her competence and compassion were recognized by judges, lawyers, law enforcement officers, parties, and witnesses.

She was particularly helpful to individuals, including new judges, as they learned their way through the procedural maze. She maintained good cheer in the face of a rising caseload and occasionally difficult customers.

She loved her work, and her co-workers loved her. During the summer, she enjoyed being at her camp on Ambejejus Lake. She loved art and expressed that love with her beautiful paintings.

Above all else in her life, she loved to be with her family. To have the love of her children and grandchildren around her was the pleasure she cherished the most and held close to her heart.

She is survived by her husband, Ulric of East Millinocket; her three children, Claudia of Trenton, Ga., and her daughters, Chris and Allie, Mary Nattress and her husband Clarke of Benedicta, and their children, Nehemiah, Naomi, Noah, and Natalia, Eric and Debbie of Millinocket, and their sons, Trevor and Caleb.

She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Hugh Hoag; and her sister, Mary Parsons.
