1937 – 2003

LEWISTON – Robert C. Beaudoin, 65, a resident of Lewiston, died unexpectedly at his home Friday, Aug. 29, 2003.

He was born in Lewiston on Sept. 20, 1937, the son of the late Ronaldo and Camillienne Fournier Beaudoin. He attended St. Mary’s and St. Dominic’s, playing hockey at both schools. When he was 16, he was chosen to be “Mayor-for-a-Day” for the city of Lewiston, and was very proud of that. He served for two years in the United States Army, and during that time was stationed in Korea.

On June 16, 1962, he was married to the former Joanne Gravel. He worked as a dyer and supervisor for Camden Yarns for 26 years, and later enjoyed working in the bakery department of Shaw’s Supermarkets until his retirement. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his grandchildren.

He loved sports, and especially enjoyed attending his grandson’s basketball and baseball games. He also enjoyed going to Sea Dogs games, horse races, and flea markets. There will be a moment of silence prior to Monday’s Sea Dogs game in his honor, as he wanted to attend one more game this season.

He is survived by his wife of Lewiston; four sons, Michael Beaudoin, Dan Beaudoin and wife, Dee, Dave Beaudoin and wife, Joline, all of Lewiston, and Jim Beaudoin of Portland; six grandchildren, Christopher, Cassidy, Kyle, Tucker and Alex Beaudoin of Lewiston, and Jeremiah Beaudoin of Litchfield; three brothers, Sonny Beaudoin and wife, Pauline, of Lewiston, Gerard Beaudoin and wife, Connie, of Auburn, and Henry Beaudoin and wife, Carol, of Auburn; two sisters, Carmen Moreau of Livermore Falls, and Diane Dumont and husband, Leo, of Lewiston; a mother-in-law, Bertha Gravel of Lewiston; a sister-in-law Marcelle Labbe of Lewiston; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by three brothers, Lionel, Roland, and Armand; and a sister, Helen Labrie.
