1924 – 2003

GREENE – Marcel Rosaire Cloutier, 79, of 315 Patten Road, Greene died Sunday, Aug. 31, at Central Maine Medical Center following a long illness.

He was born April 21, 1924, in Lewiston the son of Joseph and Fabiola Hamel Cloutier, and was educated at Holy Cross School. He served his country in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of World War II. He was in action in the European, African and Pacific Theaters as he served on a destroyer and also was part of the submarine Corp. He was awarded many metals including the Bronze Star.

He was a long time dairy farmer, carpenter and contractor until his retirement in 1983. He married the former Irene T. Beaucage on Aug. 5, 1946 in Lewiston. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish and V.F.W. Post 11032 both of Greene. He was an accomplidshed hunter who also enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years of Greene; three daughters, Marie -Therese Willard and her husband James of Florida, Lucille Sansoucie of New Hampshire, and Marcelle and Bruce Arruda of Maryland; two sons, Charles Cloutier and his wife Kathleen and Joe Cloutier and his wife Jacqueline all of Greene; three grandchildren, Dave Arruda, Scott Sansoucie and Linda Jean Ott-Cloutier; as well as several great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
