AUBURN – Students at Poland Regional High School will soon have a new resource officer to address their concerns.
On Wednesday, the Androscoggin County Commission approved hiring John Collins by the Sheriff’s Department with the assignment of resource officer at the Poland high school.
The commission also approved hiring Richard Alexander as a patrol deputy for Poland. Two full-time dispatchers were also hired.
In other business, the commission authorized the purchase of three Stinger 15 systems of road spikes for use by the Sheriff’s Department. Road spikes are used to stop fast-moving vehicles by puncturing tires as a means of preventing high-speed chases. The cost of the systems and three replacement kits is $1,407.
