MONMOUTH – Drivers using Cobbossee Road in Monmouth will encounter a detour on Tuesday, Sept. 9, and Wednesday, Sept. 10, according to the Maine Department of Transportation.

“We will be installing a large culvert under the Cobbossee Road between Welch Avenue and Maple Street,” said John Devin of the DOT’s Fairfield office. “The quickest, most efficient way to do that is to close the road.”

Alternate routes will be:

• Southbound traffic can detour right onto Maple Street from Gray Mill Road, then turn left on Route 132 then left onto Welch Avenue.

• Northbound traffic can detour left onto Welch Avenue then turn right onto Route 132 and right on Maple Street. Northbound traffic can also use the Prescott Hill Road or Route 132 to access Route 135.

Drivers are being asked to use caution when entering the construction zone. People who have questions about this project can contact Devin, 453-7377.
