Ford, Darnell lead Poland past Freeport
FREEPORT – Following up on a rebound off a pass from Mindy Thomas, Megan Ford netted the lone goal of the game as Poland snuck past Freeport 1-0 in soccer action Tuesday.
Although the Knights won, Freeport outshot them 17-10 and enjoyed a 3-2 edge in corner kicks.
Poland’s Kasey Darnell stopped 14 shots for the Knights (1-1). Hillary Connolly and Megan Allen split time in the net for the Falcons (1-1), combining for six saves.
Greenville 1, Rangeley 1
RANGELEY – Greenville’s Crystal Ferris and Rangeley’s Sarah Schrader each netted unassisted goals in the first half as Greenville and Rangeley drew to a 1-1 tie in EWC soccer action Tuesday.
Rangeley’s Justine Frost-Kolva was strong in goal, stopping 20 of 29 shots, while Beth Bartley saved eight for Greenville.
Lawrence 4, Mt. Blue 1
FARMINGTON – Katie Perry found the back of the net twice to lead Lawrence to a 4-1 win over Mt. Blue in girls soccer Tuesday afternoon.
Allie Marshall and Jaime McGee each chipped in with a goal apiece for the Bulldogs (1-1).
Megan Silkman scored the lone goal for the Cougars (0-2). Mt. Blue led Lawrence in shots on goal, 23-15, and on corner kicks, 3-2.
Danielle Begin made eight saves in net for Lawrence. Carla Robbins stopped six shots for Mt. Blue.
Monmouth 5, Madison 0
MONMOUTH – Kelsey Condon notched the first hat trick of her career to help stampede the Monmouth Mustangs to a 5-0 victory over Madison in MVC girls’ soccer action Monday afternoon.
Alex Gauthier assisted Condon for the first two goals of the game, giving the Mustangs (2-0) a 2-0 lead by halftime. Katie Soule and Katie McAlister rounded out the offensive attack, and the Mustang defense performed splendidly to preserve the shutout.
Mustang goalie Courtney Barrett saved all seven shots she faced.
Wiscasset 4, Lisbon 0
LISBON – Jesse Matzell notched two goals to lead
Wiscasset to a 4-0 win over Lisbon in MVC soccer action Tuesday.
Colby Graffam scored a goal and recorded an assist, while Lindsay Leone chipped in with a goal. Sarah Whitfield was credited with two assists for the Redskins (2-0). Wiscasset outshot Lisbon 17-7.
Brianna Shorey made six saves for the Redskins, while Belle Mathieu stopped 10 shots for the Greyhounds (0-2).
Dirigo 4, Hall-Dale 2
FARMINGDALE – Kassi Putnam found the back of the net twice and recorded one assist as Dirigo snuck past Hall-Dale 4-2 in MVC soccer action.
Mellisa Harvey and Katherine Gagne each netted a goal, while Katie Hutchinson recorded one assist for the Cougars (1-1).
Amy Leach scored twice for Hall-Dale (0-2).
Jessica Blaisdell stopped three shots for Dirigo. Lindsey Marin made 16 saves off of 22 shots for the Bulldogs.

SOUTH HIRAM – Sarah Caron guided the first and third goals of the game as St. Dom’s blanked Sacopee Valley in WMC girls’ soccer action.
Lindsey Rowbotham tallied a pair of assists and Rachel Nadeau rounded out the scoring for the Saints (2-0).
Saints goalie Emily Staszak tossed away all six shots she faced, while Angela Kendall made eight saves for the Hawks (0-2).
Field hockey
Skowhegan 9, Lewiston 1
LEWISTON – Jess Dorman netted four goals as Skowhegan rolled passed Lewiston 9-1 in KVAC field hockey action Tuesday afternoon.
Skowhegan’s Megan Sevey scored in the opening minute, but the Blue Devils tied it less than a minute later when Nicole Willey scored their lone goal.
Lewiston would end up holding state champion Skowhegan 1-1 for the majority of the first half.
Becca Roy chipped in with two goals, while Katie Lepage and Kayla Madore each added a goal for the Indians (2-0).
Carlee Evans made 10 saves for Skowhegan, while Angie St. Hilaire stopped 23 shots for the Lewiston effort.
EL 3, Lawrence 0
AUBURN – Becky Hughes scored a goal and recorded an assist to lead Edward Little to a 3-0 win over Lawrence in field hockey play Tuesday afternoon.
Gina Gaetani and Katie Hughes each notched goals for the Eddies (2-0). Kathy Harder and Keather Martineau added assists.
Mary Martin and Katie Ouellette split time in the net for EL, combining for two saves. Lawrence (0-2) goaltenders’ Katie Beck and Heather Miller shared the net, recording 21 saves between the two of them.
Oxford Hills 2, Morse 0
BATH – Brianna Thompson nailed down a pair of goals to lift Oxford Hills to a 2-0 win over Morse in field hockey action.
In an evenly matched offensive contest, the Vikings (2-0) found the net twice in the first half with unassisted goals from Thompson. The Vikings took 16 shots, while the Shipbuilders (0-1-1) rifled off 15 blanks.
Viking’s goalie Val Seames earned the shutout with nine saves.
Winslow 7, Oak Hill 1
WINSLOW – Beth Lafountain executed a hat trick to power Winslow to a 7-1 win over Oak Hill in KVAC field hockey action.
The Black Raiders (2-0) poured on the offense, scoring three unanswered goals in the first half. Lena Dietrich spoiled the Winslow shutout when she converted a combined effort assist from Jill and Julie Lizotte for the Raiders’ (0-2) lone goal.
Raider goalie Frankie Curtis repelled nine shots in the loss.
Leavitt 3,
Lincoln Academy 0
NEWCASTLE – Samantha St. Hilaire cracked the game-winning goal at 6:35 of the first half to lead Leavitt to a 3-0 win over Lincoln Academy in KVAC field hockey action.
The Hornets (1-0) were also paced with goals from Jen Gondeck and Meghan Dupile.
Leavitt keeper Kristin Schrepper stopped eight shots, while Nicole Russell was busy in goal for the Eagles with 20 deflections in the loss.
