Town office closed Thursday and Friday

LIVERMORE FALLS – The town office will be closed all day on both Thursday and Friday so that office staff may attend a mandatory election conference in Bethel.

All staff who work on elections have to attend this conference once every two years, said Registrar of Voters Faith Nichols. She has never attended and Town Clerk Kristal Flagg hasn’t been for two years so both must attend, she explained.

The office is presently short-staffed since clerk Dawn Young is on sick leave so the only way Flagg and Nichols could attend the conference was to close the office, Nichols said.

It is anticipated that tax bills will be in the mail on Wednesday, thanks in part to help from Livermore Town Clerk Renda Libby.

The staff realizes that there will be questions about the bills and asks that taxpayers have patience until those can be answered early next week. The assessor will be in the office Tuesday to meet with taxpayers.

As of Tuesday at noon, Town Manager Alan Gove was still not in the office.
