Jay school visit
JAY – Jay Middle School will hold an open house from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10.
Hours change
JAY – The Town Office will be closed from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11. Tax bills and sewer fees are now due. Interest will be charged on all payments received after Oct. 1.
All unpaid 2002 tax and sewer liens will expire Jan. 29. People are being asked to call the Town Office to make payment arrangements if their 2002 tax or sewer bill remains unpaid.

Focus: early jobs
FARMINGTON – The Sandy River Valley chapter of the Maine Genealogy Society will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at the Farmington Public Library.
The program will address the name and description of the occupations that are found in early records.
Anyone with an interest in genealogy is welcome to attend.
Hymn sing
MADRID – The annual singalong will be 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14, at the Reeds Mill Church. People should bring a flashlight since the lighting will be by lamplight in the historic church built in 1892. The Bunnell family provides electric lighting on the road into the church building. All are welcome to this old fashioned hymn sing.
Neighborhood watch
JAY – The next Jay Citizen’s Neighborhood Watch meeting will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, in the Community Building. Franklin County Assistant District Attorneys Jim Andrews and Andy Robinson will be the guest speakers. All interested residents of Jay are welcome to attend.
Tennis benefit
WILTON – The Gail Saviello Memorial Tournament will start at 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, at the Academy Hill courts and several surrounding courts. Final matches for the day will be played at approximately 4 p.m. Rain date is 11 a.m. Sept. 21.
Those interested are asked to sign up as individuals. Pairings will be made in order to keep all teams fairly even. Eight game pro sets will be played.
The tournament will benefit the Academy Hill courts’ upkeep. Each player is asked to make a donation of $15 payable on arrival. Lunch and snacks will be provided by the Tyngtown Club of Wilton, which is sponsoring the event.
