PARIS – Maine Veterans’ Home, in conjunction with the Western Maine Veterans Advisory Committee, announces plans are completed for the annual commanders dinner at the South Paris facility. The dinner will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17.
The event is held annually to welcome new commanders and auxiliary presidents to their positions, and to introduce them to the services and activities provided to the home by the various veterans groups that makes up WMVAC.
Maine Veterans’ Home, a 90-bed multi-nursing level facility, is able to coordinate activities for both individual residents and groups of residents in the home as a result of the unending assistance of organizations such as these groups. Included in the list of available activities are such events as special buffet meals, holiday celebrations, veteran related holiday celebrations, supplying each resident with a birthday gift, and supplying a smorgasbord of gifts for each resident to choose gifts for their loved ones at Christmas time. There are also numerous trips and outings throughout the year.
Pat Young, administrator of the High Street facility states, “We are so very fortunate to have this group of volunteers working with our residents. It is always a pleasure to host this event as a small gesture of thanks for the never ending support given to us. It is because of this group’s dedication that we are able to provide the numerous activities to our residents.”
