SWEDEN – The Western Maine chapter of the Small Woodland Owners Association of Maine will meet at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, for a combination tour and working session at the Carroll Forest.

The event will provide an opportunity to view recent harvests and forest practices on the SWOAM lot. For those desiring to bring their pruning and brush saws, it will offer a chance to learn valuable techniques while helping to improve the forest and remove unwanted hardwood growth.

The tour will also look at the abutting Sweden Community Church woodlot, which was harvested last winter.

As always, coffee and doughnuts will be available at 8:30 a.m. Signs will direct travelers from Route 93 onto the Plummer School Road. Bear left onto Perry Hill Road, go to the end and turn right on Evans Hill Road. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be rescheduled. For more information, phone 583-2963.
