LISBON – The high school has two new top officials this year: Principal Kenneth Healey and Assistant Principal Warren Galway.

Healey replaced Richard Read who retired in June. Healey was an assistant principal at Westbrook High School for five years before coming to Lisbon. He is a 21-year veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.

Galway, a Lewiston native, will replace William Luce who resigned effective Sept. 19.

Galway has 33 years of experience, including 13 years as principal of Biddeford High School and five years at Greeley in Cumberland. He also taught English for 14 years at Lewiston High School.

“We now have a really strong administrative team,” said Superintendent Shannon Welsh. “Our school is at a point where significant improvements have been made over the past year, and I expect with the new leadership team we now have we will become one of the strongest school systems in the state of Maine within four years.

In other Lisbon School news, Harold Moran, a seven-year School Committee member who lost his bid for re-election earlier this year, is back on the board until the next municipal election in May 2004. He was the only applicant for a vacancy created by the resignation of Martha Poliquin, who was elected to a three-year term in May.

Following an interview with the School Committee Monday night, Moran was appointed to the panel until next year when the remaining two years of the term will be filled.
