1914 – 2003

NORWAY – Ruth E. Haskell, 89, of Woodstock, died Saturday, Sept. 20, at Stephens Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Mexico, Maine, on April 18, 1914, a daughter of Victor and Ella Taylor Hodsdon. She graduated from Gould Academy in Bethel and later attended and graduated from Trull School of Nursing in Biddeford in 1937.

Ruth did private-duty nursing for a time and then worked at Stephens Memorial Hospital for several years. She then worked at Tobey Hospital in Wareham, Mass. for many years and retired from there.

She was a member of the Extension Service of Oxford County and member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She enjoyed gardening and painting.

She is survived by two sons, Edmund and Gilbert, both of Woodstock; one daughter, Barbara Haskell of Wareham, Mass.; a brother, Jessie Hodsdon of Rumford; nine grandchilren and five great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son, James S. Haskell Jr.
