KANSAS CITY, Mo. – National Commander-in-Chief of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States Edward S. Banas Sr. announces the presentation of a Diamond Jubilee Award to VFW Post 1603 of Lewiston-Auburn. The post will celebrate its 75th anniversary on Sept. 27.

“This is a very significant milestone for a VFW post,” Banas said. “This Diamond Jubilee Award recognizes dedication, determination, hard work and a lot of patriotism. And it recognizes 75 years of serving the needs of local veterans and their families, and 75 years of service to the local community, and 75 years of contributing to the strength, power and influence of our national organization. In presenting this award, I send my sincere thanks and appreciation to the members of VFW Post 1603.”

The VFW, with 1.86 million members in 9,000 posts around the world, assists veterans and their families in obtaining entitlements and other services. In addition, the organization works for the well being of those serving on active duty, in the National Guard and the Reserve.
