1942 – 2003

LEWISTON – Larry W. Mitchell, 60, a resident of Fayette, died Tuesday, Sept. 23, at Central Maine Medical Center where he had been a patient for three weeks.

He was born in Jay on Nov. 4, 1942, the son of Gates W. and Marguerite DeMillo Mitchell. He was adopted by Bill and Geneva Hodgkins of Livermore Falls.

He graduated from Jay High School, Class of 1960. He married Ruth Ann White in 1960 with whom he had three children. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1962 to 1966.

He worked at G. H. Bass Co. in Wilton during the 1970’s in the warehouse and most recently worked in shipping and receiving for Hahnel Brothers in Lewiston.

His longtime companion of 13 years, Helen Holcomb passed away in 1999. He still resided at her home in Fayette.

He is survived by two sons and their wives, Michael and Laurie Mitchell of Fayette and Jeremy and Wendy Mitchell of Livermore Falls; a daughter, Kimberly Luxeder and her husband John of Prospect, Conn.; seven grandchildren, Kyle, Brandon, Savanah, Emily, and Taylor Mitchell and Matthew and Meagan Luxeder; an adopted sister, Penny Hodgkins of Livermore Falls; adopted brother, Will Hodgkins and his wife Jane of Livermore Falls; and several aunts.
