1930 – 2003

RUMFORD – Raymond L. Ouellette, 73, a resident of Rumford, died Sept. 23, at his home surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with stomach cancer.

He was born in Jay, Jan. 31, 1930, the son of John and Laura (Groleau) Ouellette. He was educated in Jay schools and graduated from the University of Maine at Orono.

He served his country in the U.S. Army as a Counterintelligence Officer from 1951-1953 during the Korean War.

On Nov. 23, 1953 he married his beloved wife, Annette Jolicoeur. He was a loving husband, father, pepere and friend. He had a great sense of humor and loved to share funny stories with others. He was a very giving person, always willing to lend a helping hand.

He worked 38 years at Oxford Paper Co./Boise Cascade as a Production Planning Manager. He retired in 1990.

He cherished any time spent with his family. He took great pride in the academic, athletic and personal achievements of his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling with family and friends, family gatherings, skiing, golfing, volunteering at Black Mountain and helping others.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 50 years; two daughters, Linda and her husband Marc Lavoie of Lewiston, Marie and her husband John Zinck of Scarborough; son, Michael Ouellette and wife Carol from Australia; seven grandchildren, Angela and Jeffrey Lavoie, Nicholas and Justin Zinck, Jessica Ouellette and her husband Chris Keeble, Jonathan and Jaclyn Ouellette; brothers, Norman Ouellette and his wife Dorothy of Jay, Lawrence Ouellette of Connecticut, Andre’ Ouellette and his wife Dorine of Jay and Maurice Ouellette and his wife Ann of Auburn; sister, “Sr.” Florence Ouellette of Massachusetts.

He was predeceased by his son, Richard in 1983; brothers, Robert, “Father” Leo, Victor and Edward Ouellette; sisters, “Sr.” Cecilia Ouellette and Theresa McCarthy.

He will always be remembered for his kindness, giving spirit, ability to make us laugh and especially for his love and devotion to family.
