FARMINGTON – Statewide activities are planned for October to celebrate and explore Maine’s past through archaeology. The University of Maine at Farmington Archaeology Research Center is joining by offering the following:

Friday and Saturday, Oct. 3 and 4: Dig on the Sandy River. The center invites participants in a local dig. For more information and to sign up, contact Rosemary Cyr at 778-7012 or e-mail racyr@maine.edu.

Wednesday, Oct. 8, from 2 to 8 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 26, from noon to 5 p.m.: archaeology lab open house at 139 Quebec St.

Sunday, Oct. 26: annual fall meeting of the Maine Archaeology Society. Presentations on recent work at the Ntolonapemk site on Meddybemps Lake and Sebago Lake. Roberts Learning Center, University of Maine at Farmington (Room C131), from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Free and open to the public.
