Fortier chapter

LEWISTON – Chapter Dr. Paul Fortier of Association Canado Americaine will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6, in the Multi-Purpose Center seniors room. Francine Mathieu, clinical coordinator at d’Youville Pavilion, will discuss “Alzheimer – Understanding the Cause and Treatment.” All members are invited to bring a guest. LEWISTON – La Survivance Francaise will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, in the Multi-Purpose Center Senior Citizens Room.

Featured speaker will be Linda Blanchard, RN, MEd. Her talk will focus on the humor as well as the difficulties encountered when one must care for a loved one who has Alzheimer’s disease.

Blanchard is president of Blanchard Quality Consultants, a management consultant business started in 1994 that provides key management support functions. She has extensive experience and training and has consulted throughout the New England states.

Light refreshments will be served. Irene Biron will serve as hostess.

Honor members

AUBURN – Mt. Olivet Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, will honor 25- and 50-year members at a meeting at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, at the Masonic Hall, Turner Street. All Eastern Star members are invited. Ina Brainerd and Kathy Webster will serve refreshments after the meeting.

Seniors to meet

NEW GLOUCESTER – The New Gloucester Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, at the Amvets Hall. A potluck lunch will be held as well as a raffle. Members when to Heartland Restaurant on Sept. 16. Raffle winners were Shari Gosselin and Joyce Bridge.

MINOT – A Neighborhood Crime Watch meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, at the Minot Consolidated School. General information will be presented by speakers from the Androscoggin Sheriff’s Department and the Maine State Police. Those wishing can bring questions for officials.

LISBON – The Androscoggin County Firefighters Association will meet at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, at the Lisbon Fire Station.

Breastfeeding

AUBURN – Pregnant women and nursing mothers are invited to the La Lech League meeting at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, at 102 Bennett Ave. Topic will be “Breastfeeding: Great Beginnings.” Babies are welcome. Those wishing more information should call the league leader at 782-6645.

BRUNSWICK – The Mid Coast Hospital Auxiliary membership drive has added the opportunity to join to the hospital web site at www.midcoasthealth.com Volunteer/Auxiliary. Persons may join for the first time, rejoin or make donations.

Membership Chairwomen Ruth Sligar and Lou Harding said persons may continue to pay dues by check and by credit card in the Auxiliary Gift Shop.

The 500-member support organization has members living throughout the midcoast region.
