LEWISTON – Felix Rosen scored two goals in the final 13 minutes to lead Plymouth State’s men’s soccer team to a 3-0 win over Bates Wednesday afternoon.

Sebastian Rodriguez chipped in with a goal and an assist for the Panthers (7-1-0).

The Panthers, who have allowed only three goals all season, kept Bates scoring chances to a minimum. Brad Wilby, who ranks 24th nationally in saves per game, made five saves to preserve the shutout. Bobcat (2-4-1) goalkeeper James Kenly made four saves.

Colby 2, USM 1

WATERVILLE – Donnie O’Callaghan scored with just one minute left in the contest to lift Colby to a 2-1 victory over the University of Southern Maine Wednesday.

O’Callaghan tallied with 1:02 remaining off an assist from David Burton Perry. Ryan Boccuzzi scored on a penalty kick just a few minutes into the contest for the Mules (4-1-1) win.

Ian Frank scored the lone goal for the Huskies (2-5-2) with a direct kick in the first half.

Anna Maria 3, UNE 1

BIDDEFORD – David St. Jean and Frederico Almeida scored in the opening 16:02 to give Anna Maria College enough offense to come away with a 3-1 victory over the University of New England Wednesday.

Miek Warner pulled the Nor’easters within one in the 74th minute, but Dan Collins gave the Amcats an insurance goal with 3:35 left in the game.

Todd Ames made seven saves for Anna Maria (4-6-1; 3-3),

Maine 2, Dartmouth 1

HANOVER, N.H.- Rachel Hilgar scored her second goal of the game on a breakaway with 5:49 remaining in the second overtime to propel the University of Maine to a 2-1 win over Dartmouth in field hockey action Wednesday afternoon. Hilgers’ goal came as she drew the Dartmouth keeper out to the top of the circle and fired into the empty net to send the Black Bears (8-2) to their eighth win of the season.

Gordon 5, St. Joe’s 2

STANDISH – Brittany Nanni’s second goal of the game lifted Gordon College to a 5-2 win over St. Joseph’s College in field hockey action Wednesday afternoon.

Brianna Riddell needed a pair of saves to register the victory. Davan Clawson scored a pair of goals for the Monks.

Plymouth St. 3, USM 2

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Melanie Bates scored the game-winning goal late in the second half, while Amanda Gutowski tallied a pair of goals to lift Plymouth State to a triumphant 3-2 victory over the University of Southern Maine in field hockey action Wednesday afternoon.

Whitney Swaffield passed to Bates who rifled the shot, finding the back of the net for the Panthers (3-4; 2-1) and snapping the Huskies’ six-game winning streak.

Renee Heath and Deedra Boudrea each scored for the Huskies (7-3; 3-1).

Kerry Brady stopped seven shots for the Panthers, while Jessie Superchi made six saves for the Huskies.
