1927 – 2003

FLAT ROCK, N.C. – Robert E. Roy, 76, of Flat Rock, N.C., formerly of North Rumford, died Sept. 13, 2003, at his home.

He was born in Rumford on Aug. 28, 1927, the son of Raoul and Clarice (Gallant) Roy. He attended local schools and served in the U.S. Navy for three years. He was a member of the American Legion.

He worked in theatrical productions in New York City and Maine Summer Stock. He was a volunteer sighted actor with The Light House of the Blind Theater. He worked for many years as a Public Relations Agent for literary publications.

He was a member of the American Society of Dowsers. With the use of this gift, he helped find water for many local people.

He returned to the Rumford area and worked for Local 327 until he retired to N.C. He was the oldest of ten children.

He is survived by three brothers, Raymond of Lincoln, Joseph of Belfast and Bill of Mexico; five sisters, Vivian Morgan of Hendersonville, N.C., Julie McInnis of Flat Rock, N.C., Mildred Schreiner of Saluda, N.C., Janine Duffy of Hendersonville, N.C. and Annette Kinq of Amherst, N.H.

He was predeceased by his parents of Rumford; and a brother, Eugene of Bethel.
