PITTSTON – Robert Frank Turner of Pittston, died at his home on Tuesday, Oct. 7. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, he was a retired lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Air Force and he was the recipient of several service metals.

For many years he was active member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary in both Virginia and Maine.

He was a graduate of Texas A&M University, Class of 1959, and a strong supporter of higher education. He was a member and past president of the Annabessacook Lake Improvement Association and a member of the Kennebec land Trust.

He is survived by his long-time companion, Sue Neal, and her family; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his mother, Meta Wunder Turner; his father, Robert G. Turner; and a brother, Jack Wunder Turner.

TURNER – Robert F. of Pittston. A service with military honors will be held Tuesday, Oct. 14 at 11 a.m. at the chapel at the New Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta. In lieu of flowers, Robert’s wish was for you to plant a tree in your yard in his memory or to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the care of Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner.
