AUBURN – Steven Dostie, shelter director, announces the winners of the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society’s annual summer raffle.
With more than $4,600 in tickets sales, Irene Gamache of Sabattus won the grand prize of a 26-inch 21-speed boy’s full-suspension mountain bike.
Other winners included Jane Frizzell of Auburn, Karen Bauer of Sabattus, R. Jackson of South Paris, Diane Kirby of New Gloucester and Jane Pratt of Auburn. All proceeds directly benefit the Humane Society.
The society provides a safe haven for approximately 3,600 sick, homeless and abused animals in the greater Androscoggin area a year. The primary support for the shelter comes from fund-raising events and donations of residents.
The society, located at 3312 Hotel Road, is in the middle of a capital campaign to build a new shelter. Those interested in helping can call 786-4713. Anyone interested in volunteering at the shelter or adopting an animal can visit the shelter or the Web site at www.gahumane.org.
