1909-2003

WATERVILLE – Evelyn C. St. Ledger Williams, 94, of Skowhegan died Friday, Oct. 10, at Mount Saint Joseph Nursing Home in Waterville. She was born on June 25, 1909, in Skowhegan, the daughter of George and Carrie Chase.

She was a graduate of Skowhegan High School class of 1926. She was married to her first husband, Rexford St. Ledger. He passed away May 5, 1970. She married her second husband, Norman Williams, who also predeceased her on January 30, 1983. A long time resident of Skowhegan, she was a secretary for Judge Clayton Eames for several years and a homemaker for many years. She also was a member of the Skowhegan Federated Church. She loved spending time with her family; she considered all of her family to be very special to her. She enjoyed golfing in her younger years and was also a member of a bowling leauge in Skowhegan.

She is survived by a son, Bruce G. St. Ledger and his wife Nome of Enfield, Conn.; a daughter, Anne Herrin and her husband James of Canaan; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and one niece and one nephew.

She is predeceased by two sisters, Senator Margaret Chase Smith and Laura Bernier; and three brothers; Wilbur Chase, Lawrence Chase and Roland Chase.

NOTICE:

Visiting hours will take place Tuesday October 14, 2003 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Smart and Edward Funeral Home 183 Madison Ave. Skowhegan. A funeral service will be held Wednesday October 15, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Smart and Edwards Funeral Home with the Reverend Mark Tanner officiating. Internment will follow at Southside Cemetery in Skowhegan.
