LISBON FALLS – Lisbon Adult Education has openings in classes being held this month.

Recertification classes will be offered for adult infant and child CPR and for first aid. The CPR recertification class will meet from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14. The first aid recertification class will meet from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15.

On Wednesday, Oct. 22, there will be a free recycling update program for area residents to find out about the new rules for recycling and to have questions answered. The program will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m., and advanced registration is required.

A Driving Dynamics class will start on Tuesday, Oct. 21. The class will meet from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Those completing the class will receive a three-point credit on their driving record.

A substitute teaching class will begin Tuesday, Oct. 28. The class will meet from 2:45 to 5 p.m. for six weeks. The course includes a curriculum designed to provide substitute teachers with effective classroom strategies and also includes visits to district schools.

The Lisbon Fire Department will present a program on wood stove safety at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22. The program is free, but advanced registration is required.

The Lisbon Book Club will meet on the third Wednesday of each month from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Lisbon High School. The members select the books that are read. The selection for October is “Stones from the River” by Ursula Hegi. Members purchase their own books or borrow from libraries. Membership is free and new members are welcome.
