1926-2003

LEWISTON – Marion E. Sarle, 77, a resident of Washington Street in Auburn, died Saturday morning at Central Maine Medical Center. She was born in Dryden on April. 8, 1926, the daughter of Harold S. and Bertha L. Fowler Wright.

Educated in Auburn schools, she was a graduate of Edward Little High School with the class of 1944. On May 15, 1949, she married Richard W. Sarle. She was the owner and operator of Auburn Travel Service and Saco Tour and Travel for 25 years.

She was a member of The United Methodist Church in Rumford and was also active with the P.T.A. while her children were in school. She was a member of St. Andrews Society of Maine, a member of The Junior Chisholm Ski Club, and a member of Mt. Zircon Chapter # 142 Order of Eastern Star in Rumford, later affiliating with Pine Cone Chapter # 26 in Auburn., where she was a past officer in both Chapters. She was a 48-year member of the Order. She was a charter advisory board member of Rainbow Girls in Rumford and a member of Auburn Assembly # 262 Social Order of Beauceant.

She played the french horn with several bands traveling extensivly, she also played the violin, bugle and piano. An avid baseball and football fan, her teams being the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. She and her husband enjoyed traveling to Europe, Alaska, Hawaii and Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, and also their camp on Worthley Pond.

She leaves her husband, Richard W. Sarle of Auburn; a daughter, Gloria Lariviere and her husband, Philip, of Kensington, N.H.; a son, Richard W. Sarle Jr. of Rumford; a daughter-in-law, Melinda Sarle of Mexico; a close friend, Patricia Rea of Auburn; four grandchildren, Todd Lariviere of Everett, Mass., and Ricky Sarle, Ben Sarle and Kevin Sarle, all of Mexico; a sister, Louise Fairfield of Kennebunk; and her two kitties, Sparky and Sebastian; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brother, Sumner W. Wright on Oct. 31, 1980.
