LEWISTON – Casey Young Hodgkins, 69, of Wilson Lake, Wilton, died Monday, Oct. 13, at Central Maine Medical Center after suffering a stroke at her home on Friday.

She was born Jan. 18, 1934, a daughter of James and Annie (Barnett) Casey. From the time she was a little girl, she lived with her aunt Eleanor Barnett and received her education in the schools of Rumford, graduating from Stephens High School in 1952.

She earned her R.N. Degree from Central Maine General Hospital in 1955.

On Dec. 31, 1955, she married Charles H. “Charlie” Young. Together, they raised four children. From 1980-85 she was employed as a nurse at International Paper Co. and in 1985 began her employment at Boise Cascade Paper Co. in Rumford as a nurse, retiring in 1996.

In 1986, she married Richard B. “Dick” Hodgkins. They enjoyed spending their winters in Florida, and summers at their home on Wilson Lake where they co-hosted the Annual Wilton Lions Club Lobster Bake.

Committed to the community that they so dearly loved, they also enjoyed sharing their knowledge of the lake with everyone who wanted a guided boat tour during Wilton’s Annual Blueberry Festival.

She was an avid sports fan and supported her children and grandchildren as their most loyal fan at all of their athletic sporting events. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by eight children and their families, Kathy Groder and her husband, William of Wilton and grandchildren, Mitchell, Heather, William, Shawn and Kimberly, Scott Young and his wife, Megan and granddaughter, Samantha of Wilton, Kristi Couture and her husband, Darryl of Jay and grandchildren, Jordan and Austin, Kelly Sargent and her husband Eric of Wolfeboro, N.H., and grandchildren, Alex, Christopher, Kevin and Casey, Stephen Hodgkins and his wife, Janine and grandchildren, William and Charles of New York, N.Y., Susan Cruickshank and her husband, Robert and grandchildren, Erika and Emily of New Canaan, Conn., Bruce Hodgkins and his wife, Tracy and grandchildren, Haley and Isabelle of Boulder, Colo., and Ann Curley and her husband, Steven of Southport, Conn.
