LEWISTON – The 130th annual Maine State Grange Convention will be held Wednesday through Saturday, Oct. 22 to 25, at the Multi-Purpose Center.

The convention will begin with a banquet at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Tickets are $19 and must be purchased in advance. Entertainment will be provided by Vintage. Other highlights will include the state master’s annual address, presentation of the budget, committee reports, action on resolutions, award presentations, a memorial service and election of state officers.

Scheduled speakers include Robert Spear, commissioner of agriculture; Henrietta Keller, national grange secretary; and Craig Demekas, vice president of the local Libra Foundation. A full schedule of events is available online at www.mainestategrange.org or by calling 1-800-464-3421.

The Grange, founded in 1867, is the nation’s oldest general agricultural and rural advocacy organization. It is comprised of families and individuals who share a common interest in a wide variety of economic, educational and legislative issues that are represented at all levels of government.
