1917 – 2003

LEWISTON – Avetta M. (Peare) Langevin, 86, of 644 Crescent Ave., Rumford, died Tuesday, Oct. 14, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

A life long resident, she was born in Rumford Ctr. Jan. 27, 1917, a daughter of Edward and Ina Johnson Peare. She attended local schools and graduated from Stephens High School in the Class of 1933. She was married to Antonio Langevin who died Oct. 14, 1997.

After raising her children, she worked as a seamstress for many years at D R’s Shop. She also taught sewing for Adult Ed. in the high school. Mrs. Langevin was a member of St. Athanasius – St. John’s Parish, Daughter’s of Isabella and volunteered at her church for suppers and bingo.

She is survived by three daughters, Annette Arsenault of Agawam, Mass., Clara Allen and husband Maurice of Mexico, Jean Weiss and husband Robert of Clarksville, Md.; three sons, Richard of Peru, Paul of Rumford, Peter of Alexandria, Va.; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Jean Amburg of Nashua, N.H.; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Langevin of Rumford, Therese Currivan of Bridgeport, Conn.; two special friends, Doris Robbins and Alice Zadakis of Rumford.
