AUBURN – October is Clergy Appreciation Month, and the South Auburn Baptist Church, 1085 Riverside Drive, will honor the Rev. Brian Demers Sr. for his commitment to his congregation and community.
A special celebration will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19.
Demers is a 1988 graduate of Edward Little High School and graduated in 1992 from Pensacola Christian College, Pensacola, Fla. He was called to this church in 1999 and ordained in 2001. This is his first pastorate.
Demers is married to the former Caryl Braley and they have two children, Brian Jr., 4, and Andrea, 17 months.
Seniors meeting
LEWISTON – Holy Cross Senior Citizens will meet from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, in the church hall.
Speaker will be Richard Mailhot, whose topic will be drug insurance and other subjects of interest to seniors. Refreshments will be served.
AARP speaker
LEWISTON – The local AARP chapter will meet at 1:15 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20, at the Multi-Purpose Center, Birch Street.
Speaker will be Virgil Norton, administrator of the Bureau of Elder Services Protective Program. He will discuss what to look for in neglect or abuse of the elderly. There will be a pot of gold and refreshments.
KC Auxiliary
LEWISTON – Holy Cross Council 12652 Auxiliary, Knights of Columbus, will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, in the Holy Cross Church Hall.
There will be a brief business meeting before the guest speaker, Dale Morrell, discusses the Somalian community.
Friday supper
LEWISTON – Modern Woodmen of America will sponsor members and guests to a fish chowder supper at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, at Calvary United Methodist Church.
Tickets need to be purchased at the district office, 184 Webster St. from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Oct. 24.
Distribution Day
AUBURN – Auburn AC Serve will hold Distribution Day from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at the Auburn Advent Christian Church, Whitney Street entrance.
Registration for November will also be taken. New participants are welcome. Call Janet at 784-2164 for more information.
