ROXBURY – A 28-year-old woman died Sunday after she crashed her pickup truck on Route 17 in Roxbury.

Police said Kelly L. St. Cyr was driving south on Route 17 at about 2 p.m. when she lost control of her Ford Ranger while approaching a curve.

Maine State Police Trooper Terry James said St. Cyr was about two miles from the Mexico town line when her truck skidded onto the southbound shoulder, then crossed into the northbound lane and slid down a 10-foot embankment.

The truck crashed into three large trees at the bottom of the hill, James said.

A person who saw the accident called police from a nearby store. St. Cyr was pronounced dead when rescue workers arrived minutes later.

She was not wearing a seat belt, James said.

According to James, St. Cyr, formerly Kelly Mattor, was spending the weekend with her father in Roxbury.

James did not know where St. Cyr lived most recently.

St. Cyr was alone in her car at the time of the accident. Speed does not appear to be a factor, James said.
