1912 – 2003

AUBURN – Bertha M. Labranche, 91, of 440 Minot Ave., died Monday, Oct. 20, at Clover Manor.

She was born in Lewiston, April 30, 1912, the daughter of Emile and Amanda Bosse Michaud. She was educated in Lewiston schools and worked at the Bleachery Mill as a sewer. She later opened her own seamstress/tailor shop and was well known the area with a large clientele.

She was married Aug. 31, 1935 to Alfred Labranche who predeceased her Sept. 27, 1982. She was a member of Holy Family Parish and the Ladies of Ste. Anne Sodality and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She loved to entertain relatives and friends in her home, where they always felt welcomed. She traveled extensively in her later years.

She is survived by two daughters, Lucille Gosselin and husband J.P. of Brewer and Suzanne LaRue of Lewiston; two sons, Robert Labranche and wife Alice of Biddeford and Richard Labranche and wife Anne of Turner; a sister, Lydia Dostie of Lewiston; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son, Roger Labranche Dec. 13, 1987.
