1932 – 2003

AUBURN – Kathleen Angelia Olive Besson, 71, of Monmouth, died Sunday, Oct. 19, at Oddfellows Nursing Home.

Born in Mount Vernon, Aug. 4, 1932, the daughter of Alton and Meldora (Bernard) Rathy, she attended Winthrop High School.

She had worked at George the Taylor in Winthrop and also as a school crossing guard. She married Charles Besson in 1975.

She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church, Winthrop and its Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing beano, gardening and spending time at the coast.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Besson; her mother, Meldora Thompkins of Belgrade; a son, Stephen Ruman and his wife, Dori Lynn of Greene; her daughters, Sherry Ruman and her companion, Marcel Roy of Winthrop and Jackie Herrin and her husband, Andrew of Vienna; two stepsons, Richard Besson and his wife, Gail of Fairfield and Paul Besson and his wife, Nancy of Litchfield; a cousin, Elizabeth King of Winthrop; a grandson, Jason Ruman; and stepgrandchildren, Paul, Nick and Jamie Besson.

She was predeceased by a son, Shawn Ruman in 1994.
