1922 – 2003

FARMINGTON – Everett “Buddy” D. Foster Jr., 81, of Farmington, died late Friday evening, Oct. 24, at the Sandy River Nursing Care Center in Farmington.

He was born Jan. 28, 1922, in Farmington, a son of Everett D. and Florence MacRae Foster Sr. He attended Farmington schools.

On July 12, 1941, he married Ethelyn Fish in Madison.

Mr. Foster was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Navy aboard PT Boats in the Pacific Theater and participating in the liberation of the Phillipines. Prior to his service in World War II, he worked on the construction of Liberty ships in South Portland that were deployed throughout the world. Upon his return to Farmington, he worked primarily as a finish carpenter throughout the area.

He enjoyed nature and the out-of-doors very much, and traveled around Maine with his wife, taking in as much of its beauty as he could. He loved to hunt, fish, and ski, which he took up at the age of 55. He also was an avid football fan, travelling to many local area high schools to watch games.

He is survived by four sons, George of Portland, Roger of Harrison, Lee of Stephentown, N.Y., and Bruce of North Bend, Wash.; three daughters, Leslie Michaud of Green Cove Springs, Fla., Carol Powers of New Vineyard, and Audrey Brown of New Sharon; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and one aunt, Leona Howard of Norridgewock.

He was predeceased by his wife Ethelyn on Mar.28, 2001; and one sister, Myrtle Gilbert.
