1909 – 2003

NORWAY – Mary A. Mills, 95, of Greenwood, died Oct. 31, at Norway.

She was born in Greenwood on May 22, 1909, the daughter of Rawson Lyman Martin and Martha Ellen “Nellie” (Cole) Martin. She was educated in local schools and graduated from Woodstock High School in 1927 and attended Farmington Normal School.

She later worked as a schoolteacher in several local schools and worked for Ecko Wood Products for several years. She married Edward Lee Mills on June 19, 1936, he died Jan. 24, 2000. She was a former member of the Locke Mills Community Club, a member of the Locke Mills Union Church and was a charter member of the Greenwood Historical Society. She had a love for her family, genealogy and history.

She is survived by two sons, Blaine A. Mills and his wife Margaret of Locke Mills and Dwight L. Mills of Locke Mills; two grandchildren, Dustin L. Mills and Jason S. Rowland both of Rumford; and one great-grandson, Tucker S. Rowland of Rumford.

She was predeceased by her two sisters, Cecile Winslow and Elvira Churchill; five brothers, Leroy, Louis, Beryl, Glenn and Dwight; and two grandsons, Christopher Mills and Jack Rowland Jr.
