AUGUSTA (AP) – The head of the Togus regional office of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs said Friday he believes an investigation of programs administered by the division of vocational rehabilitation and employment is in its “very early stages.”

Regional Office Director Dale Demers said an inability to provide documentation sought by federal overseers prompted him to seek an outside examination.

“There was some aberration and we’re looking into it,” he said.

Demers said division services will continue during the investigation.

An investigator from the Veterans Affairs Office of Inspector General has been assigned to the review, according to the Bangor Daily News.
