1919 – 2003

LEWISTON – Dorothy S. Pray, 84, of Mechanic Falls, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, at Central Maine Medical Center.

Born in Mechanic Falls, April 14, 1919, the daughter of Kenneth and Inez Berry Purington, she attended Mechanic Falls schools.

She had been employed in area shoe shops. She was a member of the Tri-Town and Mechanic Falls Senior Citizens, the Colfax Rebekah Lodge 27 of Mechanic Falls and the Minot Corner United Methodist Church.

She married Victor C. Pray on Aug. 19, 1935 and he died on July 11, 1978.

Survivors include two sons, Victor C. Pray Jr. and his wife, Bunny of Mechanic Falls and South Daytona, Fla., and Alan Pray and his wife, Penny of Mechanic Falls; three daughters, Elaine Callahan and her husband, Sherman of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., Cassie Smith and her husband, Rex of Auburn and Cindy Goodwin and her husband, Peter of Searsport; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 24 great-great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Evelyn Harriman of Mechanic Falls, Beverly Douchette of Auburn, Katherine Atherton of Windham and Marguerite Storer of Smyrna Beach, Fla.

She was predeceased by a sister, Barbara Vachon; three brothers, Albert Purington, Willard Purington and Milton Purington; and two grandsons, Ronald Callahan and Craig Pray.
