PARIS – The Rev. Thomas Teichman, pastor of the South Paris Trinity Lutheran Church, has joined the Child Health Center’s board of directors.

Teichman has been the church’s pastor for the past five years. He said he joined the board because he has “a life long interest in the well being of children and feels it is part of the Christian ministry to advocate for those who have little voice in our society.”

Prior to his ministry in South Paris, Teichman ministered through the Lutheran Camping Ministry in North Carolina, Georgia and New York. He received a BA degree in sociology from the State University in New Jersey, College at Ramapo and a master’s of divinity from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg, Pa.

Teichman ssaid, “I am proud to give my time and energies to the Child Health Center as a volunteer board member. I have been impressed by both the competence of the operation of the organization and its programs and by the compassion and caring nature of the staff.”

The Child Health Center is a nonprofit organization, which strives to improve the lives of children and their families throughout Oxford, Androscoggin, southern Franklin and northern Cumberland counties. The center offers services through their preschool, a child safety program called ProtectME, and the Parent Place, a program which supports young parents and parents with children who have disabilities, and behavioral health services along with a developmental evaluation clinic. The center also offers a mentoring program through Big Brothers Big Sisters.
