WESTBROOK – Incentive Week 2003, an event that rewards food organizations and pantries throughout the state for raising funds, is being held through Dec. 1 and is being funded in full by the Maine Credit Unions’ Campaign for Ending Hunger.

Maine’s credit unions and Partners in Ending Hunger, a nonprofit, Maine-based organization, host Incentive Week each year as a way to encourage hunger organizations to raise money. The campaign hopes to spread the word to the public that now is the time to donate to a local hunger organization.

Maine’s credit unions will donate incentive grants to individual organizations equal to 10 percent of every dollar they raise during Incentive Week, with a minimum grant of $250 and maximum of $3,000.

In addition, hunger organizations get to keep all funds they raise during Incentive Week.

In 2002, the campaign funded more than $108,000 in incentive grants to approximately 110 hunger organizations around Maine.
