DIXFIELD – The public is invited to a retirement tea for librarian Justine Nazaar of the Dixfield Public Library from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, at the Peru Elementary School Library. Nazaar has served the Dixfield library community for 14 years.

Seat inspection

MEXICO – The Child Health Center, the Oxford County Chapter of Maine Coalition for Safe Kids, recently held a child safety seat inspection at the Mexico Wal-Mart. Suzanne Cooke, statewide coordinator for the Maine Coalition for Safe Kids and director of the Child Health Center’s ProtectME Program, and Shannon Hammer, a certified child passenger safety technician, inspected 18 restraints during the event. The women found of the child safety seats inspected, only one was being used correctly. The others had at least one misuse noted and some had been previously recalled by the manufacturer. Tribute to vets

RUMFORD – The Rumford Lodge of Elks 862 held a veteran’s appreciation night recently. Members of the Farmington Elks 2430 and Farmington Emblem Club 460 performed a USO show titled “Here We Go Again.” Chairman of the event was George Wyman.
