GRAY – Andy Ash, 67, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, surrounded by his friends and family.

Mr. Ash started Andy’s Fuel Oil in the late 1950s. He went on to purchase Liberty Oil in Gray which he successfully ran for 39 years. He worked with family members in the business and took great pride in his operation. He always patronized and supported local businesses and often hired local people. Being an entrepreneur himself, he helped finance several local businesses in the area.

Mr. Ash served in the army for three years, and was a truck driver for Merrill Transport prior to starting his own business.

He enjoyed his morning routine of going to Cole Farms for coffee, reading his morning paper and going to the office. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, snowmobiler and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren at his home on Crystal Lake.

He is survived by ex-wife Janice Ash; longtime companion, Laurie Smith; three children, Scott Ash of Gray, Dawn Parker of Raymond, and Beth Chapman of Gray; six grandchildren, Adam, Sarah, Alex, A.J., Leah, and Heather; four brothers; and two sisters.
