1939 – 2003

ROCKPORT – Betty E. Chicoine, 64, a former resident of Livermore, died suddenly Sunday, Nov. 29, at the Penobscot Bay Medical Center.

She was born in Livermore on May 27, 1939, one of 15 children of Donat and Josephine McGuire Chicoine and attended the schools of Livermore Falls.

She worked many years as a housekeeper for local families.

In 1992, she resided at the New Group Home in Mexico until 1997. She had resided at the Bancroft Group Home in Warren, now known as Warren House, since Aug. 11, 1997, where she enjoyed attending the Coastal Workshop five days a week for the Home For Handicapped People.

She enjoyed being with her family and going out to eat at Dave’s where she was well known by the entire staff. She will be remembered for her sense of humor and ability to joke with everyone, never saying goodbye until she received her kisses.

She is survived by four brothers, Norman Chicoine and his wife Gloria of Livermore, Lawrence Chicoine and his wife Rita of Livermore Falls, Arnold Chicoine of Oakland, and Ovilla Chicoine of Jay; four sisters, Dorothy Perry of Jay, Patricia Libby and her husband Lloyd of North Turner, Gloria Dunham of Dixfield, and Lois Walton and her husband Robert of North Turner; a sister-in-law, Shirley Chicoine of Rhode Island; a brother-in-law, Winston Coombs of Livermore; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her sister, Madeline Coombs, and twin sisters, Arlene and Madelyn; three brothers, Walter, Paul “Tiny,” and Manny.
