FARMINGTON – Principal, Gregory Potter of Mount Blue High School announces that Maria Cochrane has been named a Commended Student in the 2004 National Merit Scholarship Program. A Letter of Commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corp., which conducts the program, has been presented by the principal to the scholastically talented senior.

About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2004 competition for Merit Scholarship Awards, Commended Students place among the top five percent of more than one million students who entered the 2004 Competition by taking the 2002 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

“Maria is an outstanding student and wonderfully talented young lady,” said Potter. “She will be graduating early from Mount Blue High School this year, and with her potential, the sky is the limit.”
