1943 – 2003

BOSTON – Sandra L. Goodwin, 60, of 21 Fair St. Lewiston, died Thursday, Dec. 4, at Massachusetts General Hospital.

“Sandy” was a feisty woman with a zest for life! She bravely underwent a bone marrow transplant in March and continued to live her life to the fullest for the past nine months. She recently developed complications and was unable to recover.

Born in Lewiston of March 9, 1943, she was the daughter of Oscar L. Fox and Fanita Proctor Fox. She attended local schools and went on to graduate from Mr. Bernard’s School of Fashion as a certified hairdresser.

She married David Gardner in 1961 and had three children with him.

She married Everett Goodwin Christmas day 1977.

She worked hard all her life and had an outstanding work ethic.

She was employed at Sears for 15 years and most recently at L.L. Bean for 17 years, she worked in the Returns Department where she was fondly known as the “blanket lady”. She was an avid reader and enjoyed baking for family and friends. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She leaves behind her husband of 25 years; two sons, Scott Gardner of Florida and his wife Sue, James Gardner of Lewiston and his wife Jeannie; one daughter, Tracey Marquis and her husband Jeff of Greene; eight grandchildren, Craig, Cameron and Chase Gardner, Lyndsey and Trevor Gardner, and Jacob, Alex and Bailey Marquis; six brothers, Larry Fox and his wife Nancy, Dick Fox and his wife Shirley, Gerald Fox, Ronald Fox and his wife Judy, John Fox, Russell Fox and his wife Jackie; one sister, Janice Damstra of California and her husband Sid; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents.
