NEW HARBOR – Citizens for Excellence in Maine’s Elementary Schools announces the appointment of seven Maine residents to its board of directors, enlarging the board from three to 10. The new directors are:

Robert G. Coffill Jr., superintendent of School Union 106 in Calais; Lynn F. Davey, PhD, director, Maine KIDS COUNT, Maine Children’s Alliance, Augusta; Usha Nalamalapu, MD, an internist specializing in pulmonary and sleep disorders, practices in Greater Portland.

Also, E. Jane Smith, principal of Woodland Elementary School in Baileyville; Scott Snedden, principal of Jordan Acres Elementary School in Brunswick; Betsy Wandishin, head teacher at Crooked River Elementary School in Casco; and Betty Lou Whitford, PhD, dean of the College of Education and Human Development at the University of Southern Maine.

Collins, founder and president, said the group welcomes comments and suggestions from school administrators, and said school administrators who have not ordered a free copy of the report on Maine’s top fourth-grade schools do so by writing a letter of request on their school stationery to: CEMES, PO Box 12, New Harbor, ME 04554.
