1928-2003

LEWISTONSadie Emma Brown, R.N., 75, a resident of 65 Osgood Ave., Mexico, went to be with her lord on Saturday, Dec. 6, with her family members at her side at the Central Maine Medical Center, Lewiston. She had made her winter residence in Lakeland, Fla.

She was born in Rumford, on Sept. 29, 1928, the daughter of Perley and Lola (Jordan) Ramey Sadie graduated from Stephens High School in Rumford, attended several nursing schools in New England and received her R.N. degree from the Rumford Community Hospital.

Sadie had worked as an R.N. head nurse at the Rumford Community Hospital prior to starting her family and returning to work in 1970. She was proud of the fact she was a nurse and was capable of caring for her patients. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mexico and was a member of the church choir and involved with the Pioneer Girls Church Program.

Sadie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. She loved her family, holidays with loved ones, family gatherings, going for rides, teddy bears and snowmen and scary movies. She loved the ocean, traveling and she traveled from Maine to Florida for many years and had gone to Nova Scotia and Hawaii. Her favorite pastime was shopping with or without money.

She was married in Mexico on Feb. 24, 1951 to Kenneth R. Brown who survives of Mexico. Other survivors include: two daughters, Brenda McInnis and husband Timothy of Rumford, Bonnie Buckingham and husband Bruce of Mexico; three sons, Kenneth R. Brown, Jr. and wife Linda of Lakeland, Fla., Robert Brown and wife Gloria of Lakeland, Fla., and Randy Brown and girlfriend Tally Leavitt of Jay; 11 grandchildren, Jill Buckingham, Melissa McInnis, Amy Buckingham and husband David Gallagher, Sarah Brown Gunter and husband Dean, T.J. McInnis, Megan Brown, Robert Brown, Jr., Austin Brown, Lori Brown, Tanya and Nicole Noyes; a great-grandson Tyler Gunter; a brother Bruce Ramey and wife Alice of Rumford Center; six sisters, Wilma Delano and husband Ted of Rumford, Phyllis Leadbetter and husband George of Supply, N.C., Shirley Swett and husband Frank of Mexico, Ginny Perkins and husband Bill of Rumford, Sr. Sandra Ramey of Mass., and Joanne Kelcourse and husband Tim of Mexico, who was the flower girl at their wedding.

She was predeceased by a sister, Annie Ramey, and a brother, Perley Ramey, and his wife Roberta.
