1946 – 2003

LEWISTON – Gary “Snowshoe” Evan Thompson, 57, a resident of Hatfield Road, Auburn, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Dec. 9, at Central Maine Medical Center.

Born in Lewiston on June 21, 1946, he was the son of Dana and Alice Desjardins Thompson. He was educated locally, graduating from Edward Little High School in 1964. He then graduated in 1969 from Middlebury College with a B.A. degree in economics.

He served his country in the National Guards.

He was a realtor affiliated with Coldwell Banker Millett Realty in Auburn. He served as a director of the Maine Association of Realtors, and was president-elect of the Androscoggin Valley Board of Realtors, to be inducted as the president this Friday. He was a member of the Taylor Pond Yacht Club and the moderator of an international web-based bridge ladder.

He loved spending time with his grandson Alex.

He also enjoyed playing tennis, running, hunting, canoeing, and coaching soccer. He lettered in football and skiing in both high school and college.

He is survived by two sons, Owen Thompson of Rollinsford, N.H., and Max Thompson and his wife Krissy of Auburn; one grandson, Alex Thompson of Auburn; his father, Dana Thompson, of Sun City Center, Fla.; his companion of many years, Claire Radcliffe of Auburn, and her three sons, Mark, Brent, and Nathan; two sisters, Jan and her husband Robert Jacques of Auburn, and Deborah and her husband Larry Hurst of Blythe, Calif.; one brother, Steven Thompson of Charlotte, N.C.; three nieces, Sare Largay, Heidi Hurst, and Laura Hurst; and two nephews, Rob Jacques and Kevin Hurst.

He was predeceased by his mother, Alice Thompson, in 1976.
