ELLSWORTH – The Maine Community Foundation’s Androscoggin County Committee is soliciting proposals from nonprofit and public organizations that seek funding for projects that draw on community strengths.

The next deadline for submitting grant applications is Jan. 15. Applicants will be notified in mid March.

Grants will be made in the range of $1,000 to $7,500. Proposals should seek to fund new initiatives or start-up projects, rather than ongoing support, and should focus on building on the strengths of the community. Applicants are encouraged to actively involve people they hope to serve in the project’s design and implementation. An advisory committee of local residents reviews proposals.

MCF asks all applicants to use a new application form when submitting proposals. The application can be found at www.mainecf.org or by calling toll free 1-877-700-6800.

Grants are made from a permanent fund, restricted to nonprofit and public organizations serving Androscoggin County. The fund is one of nine county funds at the Maine Community Foundation.
