1922 – 2003

NORWAY – Linwood I. “Runt” Mayo, 80, of 221 Pine St., Rumford, died Thursday Dec. 11, at Stephens Memorial Hospital.

Born in Rumford Dec. 18, 1922, a son of Ephriam and Beatrice Therrien Mayo, he attended Stephen’s High School.

He married the former Doris Bouchard on Nov. 7, 1948. She died July 21, 1995.

He served in the United States Army, Company B during World War II. He worked at Oxford Paper Company for 28 years, retiring in 1980.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camp life.

He was a member of St. Athanasius-St. John’s Parish, VFW Robert Shand Post #16641 and American Legion Napoleon Ouellette Post #24.

He is survived by three daughters, Joyce Wellington and her companion George King of Union, Jean Mayo, and Brenda Mayo of Rumford; two sons, Jim Mayo and his wife Deborah, and Larry Mayo and his wife Ann, all of Rumford; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Lock and her husband Jerry of Saco; three brothers, Teddy Mayo and his wife Jeannette, and Gerald Mayo, all of Rumford, and Freddy Mayo and his wife Lucie of Westbrook.

He was predeceased by a brother, Alyre Mayo.
